We spearheaded the conception, production, and launch of a collaborative merchandise line with Butan and Inkabi Zezwe, the dynamic duo of Sjava and Big Zulu. The collection garnered exceptional acclaim, causing ripples throughout the industry.
We meticulously crafted the official University of Cape Town collection, which includes a diverse range of apparel and accessories.
We designed a bespoke collection for the renowned South African rapper, Sho Madjozi, available for purchase at Edgars stores nationwide.
We were commissioned to produce custom caps featuring transparent sun visors for Savannah's Siyavannah campaign
We secured a licensing agreement with Kaizer Chiefs FC to develop, produce, and launch a streetwear line for the club. This line was distributed in over 60 stores nationwide. In addition to handling the marketing rollout, including content creation and in-store promotions, we conceived and brought to life a unique pop-up store called the Locker Room. Inspired by the ambiance of a traditional football locker room, the store was situated at Southgate Mall, one of the largest malls in Johannesburg.
We conceptualized and produced custom t-shirts for SANRAL's ‘Don't Drink & Drive’ campaign, along with hosting an activation at the Back To The City Festival. This allowed festival-goers to personalize their t-shirts on-site, enhancing engagement with the campaign message.
We conceptualized and executed a photo shoot for a Fila window campaign, which was subsequently launched across 200 Sportscene stores nationwide.
We facilitated a design and production collaboration between Butan and Castle Milk Stout's 'Inkunzi Emnyama' campaign, resulting in the creation and rollout of a collection of bespoke, high-quality garments.
We manufactured a wide range of garments for Cassper Nyovest’s ROF (Root of Fame) merchandise range.
We run the Butan streetwear label.
'Butan' originates from the re-arrangement of the word 'Bantu' – ‘Bantu’ meaning "people" in the Nguni languages of Southern Africa.
Post colonial abuse and misuse of the word 'Bantu' in South Africa, 'Butan' emerges, symbolizing resilience, a reclaiming of history, and taking pride in the African story.
Driven by our passion to preserve, celebrate and proliferate African culture globally, we are breaking mental barriers and embracing our identity through fashion. Our garments embody African anecdotes, crafted through quality apparel, blended with bold graphics and re-imagined patterns. Butan is a powerful African narrative, set on the global stage of premium streetwear.
With the backing of KWV 3 YO Brandy, we launched the #ButanCreatives campaign, engaging young creatives in our content creation process and crafting innovative collaboration collections. In the initial phase of the project, we partnered with the Children of Midas collective to breathe life into a photographic project centered around our heritage collection. Phase 2 witnessed a collaboration with Samurai Farai, one of South Africa's esteemed visual artists, resulting in a capsule collection that garnered widespread acclaim and extensive media coverage. To inaugurate the campaign, we orchestrated two meticulously curated experiential events.
